Angers Sculptures and Fountains
With Place Lafayette just minutes walk from my house, I got to see one of my favorite Angers sculptures and fountains any time I wanted. The statue is of a messenger of war, bringing important news. In his right palm he holds a piece of writing and around the base of the fountain are extracts from Baudelaire, Shakespeare and other notable writers. Located next to Place Lafayette, it presides over the bi-weekly market. One hot Saturday, this fountain doused me thoroughly when the wind suddenly turned fierce. Shocking but well appreciated due to the heat of the day!

Place Lafayette- Messenger of War, Sculptor: Gualtiero Busato
At the intersection of Avenue Yolande d’Aragon and Boulevard Foulques Nerra I found this rond point (round about) with a moving fountain. From the Château, just walk across the Pont de la Basse Chaîne and you will see it straight ahead. It was designed by Jacques Tempereau.
Angers Sculptures and Fountains – City Center
In the city center, the La Fontaine du dialogue was a particularly engaging fountain.

Les Trois Amies by Jean-Pierre Malausséna
Les Trois Amies is another one of my favorite Angers sculptures because it reminds me of two very dear childhood friends. When we were teenagers, people called us the Three Muskateers.

La Fontaine Rose des Sables, Dessert Rose Fountain by A Hoggomat and B Perrin.
In front of Saint Serge University is La Fountaine des Rose des Sables, Dessert Rose Fountain. However, with the water, I immediately thought of mussels which are a prevalent dish in the restaurants here. This fountain was created by A Hoggomat and B Perrin.

Sculpture by Igor Mitorai, Place Saint Eloi, in front of the Musée des Beaux-Arts
This Angers sculpture is in the square in front of the Musée des Beaux-Arts. There is a delightful little café on this square that has the most amazing salted caramel ice cream!
