Louvre Paris

Under the Louvre pyramid

The ceilings are amazing!
There are over 35000 works on display here, assembled over 5 centuries, so if your desire is to see it all, you should plan several visits. (Purportedly, one needs 9 months to see every piece in the museum.) Get a map and spend a bit of time planning what you want to see before you start wandering.

More wonderful ceilings
The main entrance is through the glass pyramid but lines at this point of entrance are often long. Take the metro to the museum and get off at the Louvre stop. Arriving at opening time, we had no wait for tickets at all.

Artist at work
The variety of experiences found inside makes the visit and adventure. Watching artists copying masterpieces was really fascinating.
French schools exposed children to museums at an early age.
Remember, the museum is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays are the busiest day, particularly the first Sunday of the month when entrance is free.
