Angers Museum Photos to Entertain You
This post of Angers museum photo will hopefully keep the other blog posts from exploding with photos! Angers France has some incredible museums, like most of the larger cities in France. However, Angers holds a special place in my heart so I want to share with you some museum photos I particularly like. I begin with the Apocalypse Tapestry in the taken at the Château d’Angers. Next we’ll head over to the David d’Angers Museum . This light flooded museum of sculpture is incredible.
Apocalypse Tapestry
I scanned these tapestries images shown here from postcards that I purchased. The actual tapestry is kept in a dimly lit very cool room for preservation purposes and you are forbidden to photograph the tapestry.
I understand why you shouldn’t take photos with a flash and that there is no way of regulating photographers to separate those who can and those who won’t shoot without a flash in lowlight.
David d’Angers Gallerie
Pierre-Jean David was a French sculptor and medalist. This museum is filled with his sculptures and is located inside the former Abbaye Toussaint. Yes, this was the abbey church and with the light streaming through the magnificent glass ceiling it definitely puts you in a holy mood. This has to be my favorite museum besides the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam or possibly the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
I wandered through this museum twice. The first time, I just gave up looking at the sculptures and corresponding notes. The magnificent light casting all the linear shadows was just to overpowering. It was just breathtaking.
