Museum Jean Lurçat
St John’s Hospital contained a chapel, cloister and granary. It was marked as a historical monument in 1871 and in 1967 it became the Museum of Contemporary Tapestry. The Aubusson tapestry Chante du Monde, begun in 1957 and at the time of the creator’s death in 1966 unfinished, resides here. The Chant du Monde is 125 meters long and represents only 2/3 of the planned tapestry. Ten magnificent panels make up this contemporary tapestry. Don’t miss this ! These tapestry pictures come from postcards as photographs are not allowed inside the museum.
