Booking Hints for Cheap Flights
Cheap Flights – Although it seems that airlines are raising their prices on an almost daily basis, Paris and France can be within your grasp if you invest a little time on the internet and are flexible with your plans.
1. Before booking a flight, first educate yourself on the available airlines that have flights to Paris by reading flights to Paris. This will be an exercise in comparison shopping to find cheap flights to Paris. Compare ports of exit and entry as well as days of the week when searching for cheap flights Paris and always include a weekend in your visit. With many airlines, flying on a Wednesday seems to be cheaper than flying on other days.
2. If you are an educator or student, you should check out STA Travel for their cheap flights Paris discounts: STA Travel
3. SAVE money by using Rakuten. One discount booking site is offering a 12% cashback rebate at the time of this post!
4. Even though you may want to travel to Paris, check other major cities that may be a hub city for your air carrier and then consider taking the train to Paris to assist you in your search for cheap airfare (but don’t forget to add in the cost of train travel so that you don’t end up spending more!).
5. For budget flights, consider an open jaw flight when searching for the cheapest airfare. Again, check other major cities that may be a hub city for your air carrier and then connect with a budget carrier such as Easyjet, Ryan Air, etc. There are a plethora of these budget air carriers in Europe. I discovered it was much cheaper to fly into Birmingham (BHX) England and then schedule a separate flight from there to Paris. Being able to visit my daughter in England was also a plus to this option!
6. Book early – at least 6 months in advance to find the best cheap flights Paris. If you are not time-restricted you can also choose to book at the last minute when air lines are trying to fill empty seats. Selling a cheap flight to you is better than having an empty seat on the airline! (However, I did read one study that said if you are booking from the US the prime number of days to book ahead was 159 for a European flight.)
7. If you travel frequently then pick a carrier and stick with them. I have enjoyed free flights via frequent flyer programs several times by just being loyal to one carrier.
8. Cheap flights to Paris are harder to find during peak times. This goes for time of day and time of year. Flying during off peak times like early morning or late night will often save on costs. Mid May ticket prices tend to rise and do not fall again until the first of September.
9. Don’t forget to confirm your flight 24 hours in advance! Some airlines will even let you print your international boarding pass at this point. This is also when the airlines release the remaining emergency row seats. They have tons more leg room — but the drawback is they do not recline! I found out that trying to sleep sitting straight up is something my body was just not designed to do — I was so exhausted that first day of arrival!
Don’t be discouraged in your search for cheap airfare for your travel to Paris. Like everything else today, airfares for flights to Paris have increased. When looking for cheap flights to Paris you must remember that you are in search of a cheap flight to Paris that will only seem cheap when compared to the other higher prices.
