Chocolate Fondue is not Just a Dessert of the 70s

Remember the popularity of fondue in the 1970s? Well chocolate fondue is a wonderfully easy dessert that has not lost its popularity! It is easy to set up, your guests can just wander by and dip into it as the conversation flows. But, if it is just the two of you, it can be very romantic dipping strawberries in delicious warm chocolate. Foods to Dip in Chocolate Fondue

  • cubes of: pound cake or angel food cake
  • strawberries
  • cubes of fresh pineapple, pears, or any fruit you enjoy
  • marsmallows

Ingredients for Chocolate Fondue

  • 300 grams of 70% dark chocolate (Lindt would be my preference)
  • 4ounces heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier

Directions

  • In a bain marie (double boiler), slowly warm the crean with the chocolate that has been chopped in small pieces.
  • Stir and heat until just melted.
  • Add the Grand Marnier if desired.
  • Stir til smooth and transfer to fondue pot to keep warm and enjoy.

We started enjoying this fondue recipe long before we purchased a fondue pot. Keeping the burner on low with the chocolate melted in a double boiler (bain marie), we would stand at the stove and dip to our hearts content. Now, we wouldn’t part with our Le Creuset Traditional Fondue Pot.

Bon Appetit
